Acuitive Technologies, a medical device manufacturer committed to orthopedic surgery, has welcomed Vince Forlenza and Gary Fischetti to the Acuitive Technologies Board of Directors.
Forlenza and Fischetti have decades of experience in medical technology. This will benefit Acuitive Technologies as it focuses on the growth of CITREGEN®. Per the press release, CITREGEN is the “only synthetic, metabolically active resorbable biomaterial that stimulates the natural host tissue healing process and eliminates the inflammatory response seen with many current biodegradable materials.”
Forlenza’s career includes nearly 40 years with B.D. (Becton, Dickinson and Company). He most recently stepped down as chairman of the board last year and retired as CEO in January 2020. During his time with B.D., he held a number of executive leadership positions both in the U.S. and Europe.
Forlenza has served and continues to serve on a number of other boards. OTW spoke with Forlenza about what he was looking forward to on the Acuitive Technologies Board of Directors. Forlenza told OTW, “I have been following Acuitive’s progress with its CITREGEN technology for several years. With FDA clearance of its first application for foot and ankle I think CITREGEN is positioned in the forefront of new biomaterials that can guide and instruct tissue regeneration in many applications.”
Forlenza continued, “I see CITREGEN as a paradigm changing synthetic biomaterial purposefully designed on a molecular level to replicate intrinsic cellular physiology to overcome the chemical passivity of current biodegradable materials.”
Fischetti’s career includes nearly 35 years with Johnson & Johnson where he held a number of executive leadership positions. He is the former company group chairman for Johnson & Johnson’s 12 medical device businesses. He also served as the worldwide company group chairman for the family of DePuy Synthes orthopedic companies. Prior to that role he served in other leadership positions including worldwide president of DePuy Spine.
Fischetti currently serves and leads on other boards. OTW spoke with Fischetti about joining Acuitive Technologies Board of Directors. Fischetti explained to OTW, “Having worked for several decades in the Orthopedic Marketplace, I have found it unusual to discover new technologies that are truly disruptive.”
Fischetti continued, “However, CITREGEN’s unique ability to be engineered into various forms to meet specific application requirements across the musculoskeletal spectrum is fascinating.”
